Random Acts of Sweetness: Celebrating the People Who Show Up for the FND Community
When we talk about functional neurological disorder (FND), much of the conversation naturally centers around the person living with FND.
We talk about symptoms. We talk about awareness. We talk about finding knowledgeable healthcare professionals, accessing support, learning about FND, and navigating a condition that can be unpredictable and misunderstood.
But there are also people standing beside those living with FND.
They listen.
They learn.
They adapt.
They encourage.
They advocate.
They help.
And sometimes, they simply show up.
Those people deserve to be recognized, too.
Introducing Random Acts of Sweetness
This November, Not Defined By FND is celebrating the people who show up for the FND community through Random Acts of Sweetness.
Random Acts of Sweetness is a free recognition sweepstakes created to celebrate the people who support someone living with FND.
We're calling these special people Support Champions.
Five Support Champions will be selected at random, and each selected Support Champion will receive a Krispy Kreme Digital Dozen as a small, sweet thank-you for the difference they make.
Because sometimes a little sweetness can go a long way. 🍩
What Is a Support Champion?
There isn't one definition of what it means to be a Support Champion.
A Support Champion might be a spouse or partner who learns about FND and helps navigate the unpredictable days.
It might be a parent, child, sibling, grandparent, or other family member who continues to show up.
It could be a friend who took the time to understand FND rather than make assumptions.
It could be a coworker, teacher, neighbor, healthcare professional, or another person who makes someone living with FND feel heard, supported, and less alone.
A Support Champion doesn't have to do something extraordinary.
Sometimes support looks like helping someone get through a difficult day.
Sometimes it means listening without judgment.
Sometimes it's learning about FND so you can better understand what someone is experiencing.
Sometimes it's advocating for someone when they don't have the energy to advocate for themselves.
And sometimes it's simply being there.
There is no single way to be a Support Champion.
Why Are We Doing This?
Living with FND can be complicated and unpredictable.
And while the focus is often on the person experiencing the condition, the people beside them can be navigating their own learning curve, adjustments, worries, and challenges.
They may be learning what FND is.
They may be figuring out how to provide support without always knowing exactly what to say or do.
They may be adapting to changes in plans, routines, abilities, or expectations.
They may be advocating alongside their loved one.
And they may be doing all of this quietly, without ever expecting recognition.
At Not Defined By FND, we believe those people are an important part of the FND community.
Random Acts of Sweetness is our way of saying:
We see you.
We appreciate you.
And we're grateful that you show up.
How Does Random Acts of Sweetness Work?
It's simple.
1. Think of someone
Think about someone who has supported a person living with FND.
2. Nominate them
Tell us a little about why you believe they deserve to be recognized.
Nominations are open November 1–20, 2026, with nominations closing at 11:59 p.m. ET on November 20.
3. Five Support Champions are selected
Five eligible nominations will be selected at random.
4. Potential Support Champions are contacted
Potential Support Champions will be contacted by email between November 21–24 and will have an opportunity to confirm their eligibility and accept the recognition.
5. A little sweetness arrives
Each confirmed Support Champion will receive a Krispy Kreme Digital Dozen, subject to the applicable prize terms.
Confirmed Support Champions will be announced on December 1, 2026, subject to applicable publicity permissions.
Who Can Be Nominated?
The person being nominated as a Support Champion must be a legal resident of one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and at least 18 years old, along with meeting the other eligibility requirements in the Official Rules.
The person submitting the nomination does not have to be a U.S. resident.
Self-nominations are not permitted.
There is no purchase or donation necessary to participate.
Because eligibility requirements and other conditions apply, please review the complete Official Rules before submitting a nomination.
What Happens to the Nomination?
We know that being recognized publicly is not something everyone is comfortable with.
If a Support Champion is selected, we may share all or part of the nomination as part of their recognition, based on the permissions provided during the nomination process.
Before anything is shared publicly, the selected Support Champion will have an opportunity to review what was written about them. They can let us know if there is anything they would like changed, edited, or removed, including anything they are uncomfortable having shared publicly.
We want this recognition to feel positive, respectful, and comfortable for the person being celebrated.
Ready to Nominate Someone?
Maybe someone came to mind while reading this.
Maybe it's the person who has been there through the unpredictable days.
Maybe it's someone who took the time to learn about FND.
Maybe it's someone who advocates, listens, encourages, helps, or simply refuses to stop showing up.
If someone came to mind, they might be your Support Champion. ❤️

A Little Sweetness Can Go a Long Way
There are so many people who show up for the FND community in ways both big and small.
Random Acts of Sweetness is a chance to pause and recognize them.
Because behind every person living with FND, there may be someone learning alongside them, advocating beside them, offering encouragement, making adjustments, lending a hand, or simply being there.
To all of the Support Champions out there:
thank you for showing up. We see you. ❤️
