Play & Pause:
An FND Wellness Game Space

Living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) can feel overwhelming — but small, intentional activities can play a powerful role in healing. These games are designed as gentle brain exercises that support attention, coordination, and cognitive flexibility — all important parts of retraining the brain.

With FND, the brain’s messaging system gets disrupted (see An Overview of FND) . But thanks to neuroplasticity — the brain's ability to rewire and adapt — consistent, simple activities can help reinforce more functional patterns. These games are not treatments, but they are tools: small steps that support awareness, engagement, and resilience in everyday life.

Each month, we’ll feature a new brain-friendly game made for all ages and abilities. Play for fun, focus, or even just a smile — and remember: you are not defined by FND.

Past games will remain available to play, plus, you can get a sneak peak at next month's game! Explore the games here.

Overview

January is all about gentle resets. Reset & Refocus is a calming attention game designed to help players slow down, breathe, and re-engage their focus after the busy holiday season. Soft shapes appear on the screen, and players respond only to specific targets — practicing steady attention without pressure.

Purpose

This game supports brain retraining by encouraging intentional focus, impulse control, and nervous system regulation — areas commonly impacted by FND. The goal isn’t speed, but accuracy and awareness.

How It Works

  1. Simple shapes (circles, squares, triangles) appear one at a time

  2. A prompt tells players what to respond to (example: “Tap only blue circles”)

  3. Players tap only when the correct shape appears

  4. Incorrect taps gently deduct a point

  5. The game runs for a short, calming time period (30–45 seconds)
