Play & Pause:
An FND Wellness Game Space

Living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) can feel overwhelming — but small, intentional activities can play a powerful role in healing. These games are designed as gentle brain exercises that support attention, coordination, and cognitive flexibility — all important parts of retraining the brain.

With FND, the brain’s messaging system gets disrupted (see An Overview of FND) . But thanks to neuroplasticity — the brain's ability to rewire and adapt — consistent, simple activities can help reinforce more functional patterns. These games are not treatments, but they are tools: small steps that support awareness, engagement, and resilience in everyday life.

Each month, we’ll feature a new brain-friendly game made for all ages and abilities. Play for fun, focus, or even just a smile — and remember: you are not defined by FND.

Past games will remain available to play, plus, you can get a sneak peak at next month's game! Explore the games here.

Overview

Cozy Countdown is a gentle, winter-themed brain game that challenges players to remember and reorder simple, everyday steps. Designed to feel calm and approachable, this game supports focus and sequencing skills without rushing or overstimulation.

Purpose

Sequencing and task organization can feel harder during FND symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, or slowed processing. Cozy Countdown helps retrain these skills by practicing step-by-step thinking in a safe, low-pressure way that mirrors real-life routines.

How It Works

  1. A short list of steps appears on the screen (for example: Boil water → Add tea bag → Pour water → Stir).

  2. Players have a few seconds to review the steps.

  3. The steps disappear and reappear shuffled.

  4. Players tap the steps in the correct order before the countdown ends.

  5. Each round adds an extra step or reduces the review time.
